India has the largest youth population in the world with over 600 million people between 18 to 35 age. Number of youth population of India makes us the fastest-growing economy in the world. Not only India countries having large numbers of young people are doing great. It is said by an economist that if you want to see the development in a country see the young generation. Indian young generation is making India proud in IT, research, sports, science and all sectors except one “Politics”, In the 18th elected Lok Sabha only 11% of MPs are under 40 years of age.  This number is shocking because the youth population of India is 50% but in politics, they contribute under 10%.

However, these young people are the ones who have participated in all the political activities. There are many student political groups in India such as ABVP and NSUI to nurture political talent. But big politician used them, their fan following for their gain. Most of the big politicians such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Sachin Pilot, and Yogi Adityanath are nurtured in the local politics. Advantage of Youth in Politics

1. Indian politics is mostly influenced by the politics of religion and caste only. Young people see everyone as the same they believe in equality and bring equal opportunity for all. They can achieve peace in society as no one can exploit others and there will be lesser conflict based on caste and religion. 
2. For development, a country needs a fresh perspective and idea, young politics can bring that. 
3. As mentioned above 50% of the Indian population is young and young leader can represent their problems. Young leaders know how to treat they what are their needs and ways to fulfil them. Indian youth is more concerned about employment, medical, education, women’s safety, and transportation instead of religion, caste, and freebies.
4. Young politicians will be more positive, energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic. They will have less responsibility in their personal life and they can work more for the betterment of society. 
5. As more young people join politics the negative image of politics and politicians will be eliminated from the minds of people.
6. One of the major problems with older politicians is that they support each other and show loyalty to parties whether they are wrong or right. Indian government eliminated 370 articles many opposition leaders argued just because they wanted to show their loyalty to their party. An increase in Youth in politics will inject people who can speak against their parties as well if they are wrong.
7. The involvement of young people in politics ensures inclusiveness.

Disadvantage of Youth in Politics

1. Young people may have an unrealistic vision for society which is hard to implement and can cause serious concern to society. For example- If Young politicians try to eliminate the reservation there will be massive outrage and things will be worse for all of us.
2. Many things come with experience and young politicians will lack that. As people learn many things over the period and which help them make desirous which is not against anyone but only for the betterment of society.
3. Manipulation will be there with the young politicians, big criminals and businessmen who may try to use them as their puppets for political advantage. As we have recently seen in Bangladesh where a few big nations and international terrorist groups fund the student political group for violent protests against the government and Hindus. Similarly, when Article 370 was revoked same groups funded the young people in Delhi for the riots which caused the death of thousands of people.

Steps to Increase the Involvement of Youth in Politics

1. There has been a reservation for youth in parliaments and local elections the political parties introduce more young people. 
2. The election commission needs to run campaigns to educate people more about politics. 
3. Indian government needs to give internship opportunities at parliament, and assemblies to students so they can work with experienced politicians. 
4. National parties have to make their student wing more empowered and independent. 
5. There has been a transparent process for introducing bright student leaders to main politics.
6. Experienced politicians have to nurture and train the youth to become better politicians.
7. The government has to promote political science subject among the young generation. 
8. Every young individual must know their responsibility whether they are voters or leaders.
9. We need to do some education and training work at the ground level and in local politics. It will prevent young politics from the dirty politics of religion, caste and area.

The involvement of youth in the Indian political system is significant as a voter and as a politician. India has taken the step of 0 to 1 but to reach from 1 to 100 the Indian governance needs qualified young politicians. New ideas and perspectives of young politicians along with expert guidance from experienced leaders will change the political landscape for always. Fully young leaders will also raise some serious concerns so we need a balance between them. As of today’s situation Indian political system needs more involvement of young people and they deserve a platform and chance. If the youth of a country doing great the country will always be in better condition.
