CAT - The Complete Guide

For writing CAT, admit card is a mandatory document and needs to be carried to the exam centre in person and in physical copy. Any one not carrying the admit card physically on the exam day will not be allowed to write the test. So, all the aspirants must download their admit cards by Nov 28, 2021 before the commencement of test. Further, this is advised that students should download the admit cards much before the last date so as the see for the errors on the card.

For downloading admit card students need to use CAT login id at the iim-cat website. The download of admit cards can be done till the examination begins. As per the IIM announcement CAT exam is scheduled on November 28, 2021 at 400 test centres in 159 cities. The CAT exam will be conducted in three slots.

How to Download CAT Admit Card 2021?

Admit card will be available for download on the official website only. For downloading the admit card, candidates needs to follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official CAT exam 2021 website link - iimcat.ac.in
  • Click on 'Login'
  • Enter registration ID and password
  • Click on 'admit card'
  • Click on download and save the admit card on desktop
  • Take a print out of the admit card

Problems Candidates may face while Downloading CAT Admit Card

In general aspirants faces the following issues while downloading the CAT admit cards. The solution is also given.

Website not responding:

App 2,31,000 students have applied to the CAT Exam. The CAT website may face technical issues sometimes due to heavy traffic load or any other reason. In such a situation, wait for some time, do not continuously try to log in. Log out and visit the website after sometime to download your admit card.

Slow internet speed:

Sometimes your laptop or mobile may not have enough internet data or wi-fi may not be working properly. Check the speed of your internet connection. If it is slow, switch to a faster internet connection to download your CAT admit card.

Wrong password or login credentials

If you have forgotten your password and unable to recall the login credentials, then you need to use the ‘forgot password’ option given on the examination website and follow the instructions to change the password and use it for downloading the CAT admit card.

Errors to Check in CAT Admit Card 2021

After downloading the admit card, candidates must cross check and verify all the information mentioned on it. The following information on CAT admit card must match with the information on the CAT application form:

  • Your Name and spelling should be same as in CAT application form
  • CAT registration number must be the same as the registered user ID
  • Date of birth should be the same as mentioned on the application form and in official documents
  • Caste category status should same as in CAT application form
  • PwD/DA status should be same as in CAT application form
  • Test city must be from one of the options mentioned in the application form
  • Candidate's photograph and signature must be clearly visible

  • The aspirants must carry two copies of the CAT admit card and a photo ID proof (original and photocopy)
  • Only admit card & photo ID card will be allowed inside the exam hall
  • Writing pad and pen will be provided inside the exam hall for rough work and that’s to be returned after the test. Candidates will be required to write their name and registration number on the writing pad.
  • Candidates must reach the CAT exam centre at the reporting time mentioned in their admit cards
  • Candidates must use the Reference Number printed on the admit card for identifying the door/wing/lab at the test venue on the day of the test
  • Candidates are not supposed to sign their CAT admit card beforehand. The admit card is to be signed only inside the exam hall in front of the invigilator
  • Candidates must affix their photo same as the one uploaded with the CAT application form
  • Mobile phone, calculator, IPad or any other gadget is prohibited inside the examination hall
  • Candidates are advised not to carry bags or luggage to the CAT exam centre as there will be no provision to submit bags and valuables
  • Jewellery that contains metal, clothes with pockets, jackets and footwear are prohibited inside the exam hall
  • Candidates with a metal implant, pacemaker, etc. in their body will be required to bring medical certificate of the same
